People who have a passion for animals make good zoologists, veterinarians and wildlife photographers. Being a veterinarian is the closest a man can get to animals, for they treat and care for animal folks. Often called as a vet (abbreviation for veterinary doctor) or an animal doctor, these folks are responsible for understanding, treating, guiding and maintaining records with respect to animal life.
When careers advice leads to veterinary medicine, a person's job involves treating and control animal diseases. Apart from this, they study animals' life and the progress of the treatment, whenever applicable.

The diagnostic aspect requires the vet to perform certain tests like X-ray, ultrasound, blood tests, stool tests, urinalysis, EKG etc. The vet also provides vaccination against diseases like rabies, while medication comes into picture when an animal suffers from infections and illnesses.
Later, a vet has to perform animal surgeries if required (post surgery, the vet treats and dresses wounds). Like a dentist, a vet also needs to take care of the dental part of animals. Lastly, a vet needs to euthanize animals wherever applicable.If we summarize a veterinarian's work life, the diagnostic part also requires a certain level of skill and experience. As animals can't talk, a proper and timely diagnostics becomes more important.
Educational Requirements
A bachelors or doctors degree in veterinary medicine is required to practice as a vet. Some countries allow registration and practice only after a vet completes his masters or doctoral program.
Many vets specialize in a certain animal study and treatment. Most common are vets who treat dogs and cats. However there are many veterinary folks who specialize in the treatment of birds, horses, reptiles, cows etc. Most job opportunities direct a vet towards private clinics and hospitals, but teaching in colleges and universities is also an option for veterinarians.
Lastly, the profession allows a decent source of income, apart from the satisfaction of helping animals.
