Change the world!

Change the world!

Change the world!

It is interesting, and inspiring, to see how many people follow their hearts in lifenot just their bank accounts, or what they find entertaining, or what benefits themselves only. Passion, dedication, and the desire to make a difference in the world are all powerful motivators that can drive people; in fact, ultimately those are the most powerful motivators of all. We all have a passion that we feel strongly about, something impelling us to make the world a better placebut even if it didn't occur to you before now to be passionate about anything, taking a moment to consider it will bring something to mind that you'll realize you wish you could make a difference in.

We live in a fast paced world, and in this country especially, some have described our society as operating in a "fast food" mindsetwe want everything now, as conveniently as possible, and with fries! That's only added to by the pressure to succeed in our careersnot just to provide for ourselves and our families, but a drive that becomes the overriding force in life, pushing other concerns to the background. Unfortunately, if people allow themselves to get caught up in this rat race, it can cause passions to be easily ignored, put off, or smothered.

But none of that has to happen; the good news is that those passions are always alive right there in your heart, and need only a little breathing room to grow. For those who let their passions emerge from the "hurry up mentality", changing the world is a genuine possibility, and now the only thing to do is to bring those dreams into reality. Some may dream of changing the world overnight, but of course pursuing an unreasonable goal can only cause problems for you, and is ultimately discouraging, since it can lead you to think your dream is unattainable. Nothing could be further from the truth, though. Dreams emerge like the sunrise, coming to light over time, not all at once likewell, like picking up an order at the fast-food window.

Changing the world a little at a time doesn't have to mean "making a hardly noticeable difference", either. Because the world can't be changed overnight, sometimes it can then seem that nothing we do makes much of a differencebut again, nothing could be further from the truth. Small changes can often have the most dramatic impact on another person's life, and that will usually be seen right away, or soon after; seeing even our "small" impact, in turn, has a surprisingly huge motivating effect on ourselves, which encourages us to go on to do even more.

Individual contributions to change can be like raindrops or snowflakesdoes each one seem not very significant in itself? But before long, they add up to a rushing river or an avalanche; their impact together adds up to far more than their individual efforts amount to. Don't underestimate your contributions to make a change! Your efforts can join with others' efforts, and then you will start to see greater changes happeningthe very things you had dreamed of all along, coming to light at last. That is because you really are not alone in wanting to change the world, and there are always many others who have dreams similar to yours, who will want to join you in helping your common dreams become reality. That is where individual drops rise into a full, flowing river. By changing the world a little at a time, we can change the whole world over time.
