Changing Up Your Routine With Cheese Rolling

Working out at home is a luxury that we all enjoy today

. It is very convenient and a great way to lose weight and stay in shape.

Many people find the convenience of the home stationary bike a necessary part of their busy lives. Without this convenience, many people would not exercise as often as they should.

Business people find they can easy incorporate a stationary bike workout into their busy schedule. Teenagers enjoy the fact that they do not have to leave their precious Nintendo, TV, and personal music behind.

Mother's enjoy the fact that they do not have to hire a babysitter every time they want to exercise. In addition, they are able to set a good example of exercise for their children when they work out on the stationary bike daily.

This will show the children that exercise is very important. They may even begin to develop a habit of exercising themselves early on in their lives.

This will benefit them tremendously. Not only does exercising provide excellent physical benefits such as increased strength and endurance, but it provides a higher level of self-confidence, self-esteem, and success in life.

While working out on a stationary bike is very good, you will have to change up your routine once in a while or your body will adjust to the exercise and you will not see any improvement. This can be very discouraging.

There are two ways you can combat this plateau. The first way is that you can change the settings on the stationary bike to be longer, faster, or harder.

However, it may be more fun to incorporate something new and interesting once in a while. One very interesting sport is the Cheese-Rolling and Wake Contest that is held annually on Cooper's Hill on Spring Bank Holiday.

Cooper's Hill is located near Gloucester in the Cotswolds region of England. In the beginning, this contest was designed for the people who live in Brockworth.

However, people from all over the world enjoy participating in this competition every year today. This sport is very dangerous and many people have been injured in the past.

This knowledge does not stop an increasing number of people from attending the event. Due to a shortage of medical personnel and the large crowd, the 2010 event was actually canceled.

There continue to be high hopes for next year though. The 2011 event is still being planned and is expected to happen.

Even thought the 2010 cheese rolling event was canceled, a large crowd still showed up to hold a few of the races. Chris Anderson had been the five time reigning champion and he continued his winning streak in the 2010 races.

Luckily, no one reported any serious injuries or the 2011 event may have been canceled as well. To begin the contest a round of Double Gloucester cheese is rolled from the top of a really steep hill.

One second later, contestants take off running down the hill after the cheese. The first person to reach the bottom of the finish line at the bottom is declared the winner.

His or her prize is the round of cheese. Originally the winner was the one who actually caught the cheese, but with the head start the cheese can actually reach a speed of 70 mph.

This is fast enough that the cheese has spun out of control and hit spectators, knocking them over and injuring them. It is said that the tradition cheese rolling competition is over 200 years old.

The Double Gloucester used in the contest is a hard cheese made by the local Diana Smart. She has been making the cheese used in the contest ever since 1988.

During World War Two rationing was so bad that cheese could not actually be used. Instead, a wooden round was substituted with a piece of cheese in the middle of the wood.

As the contestants chase the cheese down the hill, the hill is so steep that most contestants will fall over. This combined with the uneven surface is generally the cause of most of the injuries that occur.

It is common for several people to suffer sprained ankles, broken bones, and even concussions at this event. The cheese rolling competition was first introduced to TV in the 1970s.

After this showing, the event became widely popular and it began showing on more than one channel. It is a very intriguing sport that would add a lot of spice to your personal exercise routine.
