Memory
The amount of memory a camera has, which is measured in megabytes (MB), determines how many pictures you can take and store before you have to delete or transfer some images. A 2 megapixel camera with 32 MB of memory, for example, can usually hold about 35 photos. To give yourself the most flexibility, you likely want to buy additional memory cards.
Instruction Manual
Go through the manual, as soon as you buy the camera. If possible get a pocket size manual, rather than one on a Cd. This way you can carry it around when you go outdoors for shooting.
Feel The Camera
Before purchase, make sure the camera feels good in your hands. If you have big hands, look for a small camera with limited number of buttons, that are easy to reach and press.
Try The Camera
Check if possible, if the camera is too complicated. Check out how the images look and if the display screen is clear. While you are at it, you can also check the camera for speed. Look for a camera that takes 4 6 seconds between shots.
Are The Extras Really Worth It
Check which features are really worth it. You will find cameras that have a number of accessories attached to them. While a large size memory card is beneficial, a tripod may may not be. Carefully pick and choose the essentials.
