Following a week where three of our major energy companies announced that they would
be increasing the cost of gas and electricity, Prime Minster David Cameron yesterday pledged to do something about it.
At Prime Ministers Questions he stated that he would be legislating that energy companies have to offer customers their lowest tariff to help provide households with a fairer deal. However, just a few hours later the Department for Energy appeared to backtrack from this statement saying that they were exploring all options to try and cut the cost of energy for homeowners.
Some experts have lauded the proposals, whilst others say that it will complete destroy competitiveness in the market. As it currently stands, things are completely up in the air which once again leaves homeowners in limbo and in desperate search for a solution to expensive energy bills.
Taking the initiative and searching for the best tariff is a sure-fire way of securing cheaper energy, as is replacing any existing traditional windows you have installed in your home. Old wooden windows become less and less effective at insulating a property the older they get as the frame weakens and the glass becomes less capable of retaining heat.
In their place should go double glazing in Cheltenham, double glazing in Gloucester or double glazing in Swindon. The reason being is because double glazed windows are purposely designed to improve the energy efficiency of a home and prevent heat loss. Your property will be so much warmer when you opt for double glazing and it will allow you to use your boiler far less than you used to. You could even get away with turning down your thermostat a degree or so, a move certain to make energy far less expensive.
To help complement a brand new set of windows it is also suggested that you replace any old front or back doors as a modern replacement shares all the energy efficient qualities of a double glazed window and UPVC frame. They will also put a halt to any draughty hallways and secure your property like never before due to the durable door frame and tough locking mechanisms attached.
In addition to their ability to enhance energy efficiency, new windows and doors will also improve the appearance of your property from the moment they are installed until years down the line due to their elegant and long-lasting finishes.
