Shimla can be visited all the year round. In summers, tourists visit Shimla to escape from the sizzling heats of the plains and enjoy the cool breeze at Shimla. However, snowfall during the winters attracts many visitors and makes it a wonderful winter holiday resort.

A lot of beautiful places are there to explore in Shimla. The main tourist attraction in Shimla is The Mall. It is the main shopping street of Shimla located in the centre of the city and is dotted with many restaurants, clubs, banks, bars, post offices and tourist offices. It is the busiest commercial areas of this place.

Along the Mall Road is situated another famous tourist attraction of the city ShimlaRidge which is the hub of all cultural activities of Shimla. Jakhoo Hill, the highest peak in Shimla offers a panoramic view of the town and of the snow-covered Himalayas.

At a distance of 5 km from the Ridge is situated the lovely township of Summer Hill which is famous for its quiet surroundings. It is said that Mahatma Gandhi used to stay here during his visits to Shimla. On the Ridge, Christ Church is situated which is the second oldest church in Northern India. It is a place where one should spend some time in.

The cultural wealth of the state is well preserved in the Shimla State Museum which houses a collection of Pahari paintings, ancient sculptures, bronzes, wood carvings, coins, photographs and also costumes, textiles and jewelry of the region.

At a distance of 2 km from the heart of the city is located Annandalewhich is a lovely picnic spot and playground of Shimla. Another pretty picnic spot is the thickly wooded forest Glenn. It is a calm and tranquil locale with a thick cover of the deodar trees.

Some other places to visit around Shimla are St. Michael's Cathedral, Tara Devi Temple, Institute of Advanced Studies, Junga, Mashobra, Kufri, Chharabra, Chail, Arki and Sanjauli.

You can also have fun enjoying the adventure sports of golfing, skiing, trekking and fishing.
