There are cheap holidays in New York City if you know where to go and what to avoid. There are the expensive places in Times Square and on Park Avenue, but there are young and poor artist in New York. This is the company you need to be keeping if you are looking for a good time at a low cost.

Everyone has heard the jokes that New Jersey is the arm pit of New York, but don't let that fool you. The Giants play there and so do the Jets, so it can't be that bad.

If you must stay in New York, then may I suggest Brooklyn or the Bronx. There is a lot of history there along with being part of New York City.

In February there is Lincoln's Birthday on the 12th, Valentine's Day on the 14th, Presidents Day on the 16th, Mardi Gras on the 16th, Ash Wednesday on the 17th. In March Passover begins on the 30th.

In April there is Good Friday on the 2nd and Easter on the 4th. In May there is Cinco de Mayo on the 5th, Mother's Day on the 9th and Memorial Day on the 31st. Father's Day is the only holiday in June and is on the 20th.

The lowest cost places to stay in all of New York City are the many hostels. In and around Greenwich there are several including the Chelsea International Hostel, Jazz on the Town Hostel, Big Apple Hostel, American Dream Hostel, Gershwin Hotel and The Marcel at Gramercy.

When choosing a package for your visit to the Big Apple make sure it not only includes a discounted airlines tickets but also good accommodation for you to stay at while there. Packages deals are not always the best deals, but they can be if you look hard enough. This should include what it will cost you to get around NYC.
