Chevy unveils awesome new concept truck
Chevrolet has introduced a new concept truck that lacks a bit in power compared to other trucks in Chevy's lineup, but makes up for any perceived disadvantages by way of exceptional styling from its interior to its 20-inch Chevy Rims.
While the concept truck lacks a good name (it was simply titled the Chevrolet Colorado Show Truck before an appearance at an auto show in Bangkok), it's not lacking on power for a mid-size pickup. The truck boasts a 2.8L turbodiesel engine, and although horsepower information isn't currently available, it's likely that the engine will output around 140 HP when considering some of the other similar vehicles that Chevy has introduced in the past (as well as the size of its engine, which has been seen in some other Chevy vehicles). This is about right for a mid-size, assuming that the estimate is valid.
The truck is four-wheel drive and sports off-road tires, at least in its concept car form. The real draw is the unique styling. The concept truck has a very broad, very exciting look which could serve to energize Chevy's midsize truck market if the vehicle is introduced in the United States. The truck is also thoroughly upgraded with luxury features and nice extras. For instance, the truck has LED turn signals which light up in the rear view mirror.
Interior features will probably vary from the base version that's eventually available, but the concept vehicle's interior seems as impressive as its exterior thanks to chrome accents and top of the line trim. Chevrolet pulled out all the stops to give the truck a luxury look, which could be extremely interesting if the company tries to seriously promote the concept vehicle as a truck in 2012 or later.
The 20-inch aluminum Chevy Rims that the concept truck sits on will no doubt prove interesting to Chevy fans. The concept truck will likely be able to use existing aftermarket Chevy rims and factory Chevy rims intended for larger trucks, and thanks to its broad design, larger Chevy rims would certainly seem in place on the concept vehicle. It remains to be seen how aftermarket parts manufacturers will develop Chevy rims for the concept car, although aftermarket providers tend to produce factory replica Chevy rims very quickly when a new truck or SUV is introduced.
Chevrolet premiered the mid-size and its Chevy rims in Thailand due to the popularity of mid-size pickup trucks in Asian markets. It's expected that when the concept vehicle comes to the United States, it will have a name and more details will be available (including more details on the Chevy rims).
