Its been a dark couple of months for Toyota. Im of course talking about the reports of runaway vehicles and sticking acceleration pedals, many of which have been blown out of proportion but some of which are certainly true. There has been a slew of outcry, whether from consumers, the government or the media, and the Japanese manufacturer has certainly been held accountable for its actions. It seems to a lot of driving experts that the recent recalls have been treated as such to take some of the heat off of the Big Three manufacturers, who were given a similar treatment when they went bankrupt due to unsavory business practices of their own.

Chicago new Toyota dealers, however, dont deserve all of the criticisms they have received thus far. Granted, any manufacturer that directly causes deaths and injuries should be held accountable for its actions. But why are we making Toyota the automaker that manufactured one of the most innovative and fuel efficient vehicles on the market burn for transgressions that have been undertaken much more egregiously by other automakers in the past? Many Chicago new Toyota drivers saw the stunning report, which attempted to prove that certain Toyotas could accelerate without command and without leaving evidence that it has done so. It turns out that the professor undertook an experiment that could ultimately be performed on any other brand car (and was successfully performed on Subaru, Honda, Chevy and Ford vehicles). Fortunately, the tests performed by Gilbert could not be replicated under any sort of real-world conditions, a point that Chicago new Toyota technicians pointed to following the outrageous piece of journalism. Not surprisingly, Toyota demanded an apology for the harmful and untrue report that was not received apologetically by ABC. In fact, your Chicago used Toyota dealer was even more appalled by ABCs response, which indicated that the media outlet had very little interest in informing consumers of the truth and more interest in saving its own tail in terms of its viewership.

Well, I have to say that Im not exactly surprised at this report. The media has been out of control lately, whether it comes to partisan reporting of political topics or the attacks on Toyota that come only a couple years after the manufacturer revolutionized the entire driving experience with the Prius. I, for one, will continue to support the efforts of the Japanese manufacturer.
