As different dogs have different learning speed, you need to train different dogs differently. For instance, a training approach used for Westie training may not be suitable for Chihuahua training. You must apply training methods that can bring best and effective results in such breeds.

Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dogs that have the problem of "small dog syndrome" which means, a small dog acting like a big dog. They might be small but they have big attitude like big dogs. These two reasons make Chihuahua training highly challenging. So, you need to apply proper and positive methods for getting the best results from training.

As these dogs are very small, the use of a leash or choke collars can damage their trachea while pulling against their throat. It would be better to use harness for these dogs for avoiding such problems.

Don't use any kind of harsh and punitive measures to make them obey your commands. Negative ways of training can result only negative behaviors in them. They may exhibit neurotic behaviors if they feel any kind of fear and anxiety. Such problems will make them worse and eventually they will resent you for it. Don't let your Chihuahua to grow the feeling of dislike for you else they will never obey your commands. Instead deal in kind and polite way to train them so that they feel comfortable with you.

The use of positive reinforcement in the process of Chihuahua training is the best way to train them effectively. They are likely to respond well to such methods. When you provide rewards and treats for their good behaviors, it helps in promoting such behaviors in them. The idea behind using treats is to motivate them to keep focus in the training sessions so that they can learn the tricks quickly.
