Why do some people prefer concrete driveways over asphalt or brick
? In most cases it is just a personal preference and you also have that choice to make when you are preparing to install your new driveway. Concrete tends to crack and break easier than the more flexible asphalt. It is more expensive to install and maintain yet many people still have a preference for many different reasons. In most cases it is the look of concrete. Does anyone actually like to look at asphalt? It is surely not a pretty site though one could choose brick instead of concrete and make a more colorful and distinctive design.
For many people the choice is one of tradition. It's like the say "don't fix it if it's not broken." They are used to seeing and being in the company of concrete and unless they have a reason to use something else they will remain with the traditional. They know they can trust concrete to perform well and they can embed designs in its surface while the cement is still wet. They also know it is less susceptible to extreme temperature changes, and they are afraid to make any changes that may not work well for them.
Choosing something with which you are comfortable is an old tradition and one that many people still follow. No one should attempt to force you to use a material with which you are not familiar and in which you do not have faith.
