Choosing The Right Type Of Plants For Your Greenhouse

Once you have added a greenhouse to your garden

, you have the freedom of growing a selection of plants. However, there are certain types of plants that are more suited to a greenhouse environment than others, therefore, it is important that you research whatever types of plants you are planning to grow, so that you are aware of their needs.

The most popular types of plants to grow in a greenhouse are fruit and vegetables, such as cucumbers, potatoes and tomatoes. Growing your own fruit and vegetables can be very beneficial, particularly if you grow them organically. Tomatoes and cucumbers are the best choice for beginners, as they are easy to grow and very suited to a greenhouse environment.

Once you have practised growing easy plants, you can experiment with other types. If you wish to continue growing your own food, then you may wish to consider having a go at growing different types of fruit, such as raspberries or blackberries, which are suited to a greenhouse environment. Certain types of fruit can be difficult to grow though, so you may wish to practice easier types first and research any types that you are unfamiliar with.

Growing a selection of other plants in your greenhouse can also be rewarding. Exotic plants are a great choice and are well suited to a greenhouse. Growing your own exotic plants will not only enable you to practise growing something more challenging, but also provide a selection of beautiful plants for your garden during the summer.

Whatever plants you decide to grow in your greenhouse, it is important that you provide them with plenty of care and attention. Fruit and vegetables will need to be cared for and watered regularly and exotic plants will need just the right amount of light and heat to help them thrive. Be sure to add extra heating or lighting to your greenhouse if your plants need it and you may wish to consider adding extra staging to your greenhouse, so that you have plenty of space to grow a selection of plants.
