Choosing What New Rib To Buy

If you are looking at new ribs for sale you will probably be overwhelmed by the choice and myriad different brands

. Well heres a real quick guide to choosing the right rib for you!

First of all lets decide what kind of use you will be putting your rib through - occasional recreational, regular recreational or work/commercial. Next we need to look at the number of people that will regularly be in the boat, stick to 1-2, 2-4, 4-6, 6-8. This figure should be for instance - my family = 4, not my family and what if uncle brian comes down with his wife and aunt agatha, we better make it 8, as this is the exception and you will end up with a boat bigger than you wanted. That said it is a good idea to choose your new rib carefully and go for the largest you can afford and tow/recover easily, if you cant do it easily it will put you off using it and that defeats the object now doesnt it!!

Once you have chosen the size you then need to choose your brand, there are so many new ribs for sale its hard to choose the brand, and as space doesn't permit a full critique on brands, I will just list some brands in different budgets that I recommend: top budget - expect to pay for a 5.5m rib package around 25,000 - osprey or ribcraft for rough water, zar or scorpion, for posing. Mid range budget - you will pay around 15,000 for a 5.5m package. In this price bracket the british designed Seapro ribs are the only option in my eyes - they are as well built as the most expensive ribs for sale but half the price! If you have a low budget - dont buy new, go for a second hand rib from a good quality brand instead! DO NOT BUY A NEW CHINESE RIB they fall apart.

Next look at outboards for sale, here you want to stick to yamaha outboards, if you have a whopping budget, or look for new mariner outboards for sale if your budget is middle road, they are the best value for money and very reliable. The warranty is excellent too.

Size wise look at around 60hp for a new 5m rib, 100hp outboards for 5.5m rib boats, and 150hp if you are looking at 6m ribs. If you are going 7m then a 300hp will be fun - here your budget wants to be 50,000 for top end, or 40,000 for seapro.
