Choosing What To Promote
One of the biggest questions on an affiliate's mind is generally what to promote
. Normally, they think that if they don't have intimate information about the subject it's not going to do well. That's generally not true, although it does help if a person does have some of the industry lingo down; but that just depends on what they're promoting. This is generally enough for some affiliates to cover in fear, especially considering the fact that the person will probably run across a host of products that they seem scammy, and unfortunately, this is something that will probably be a mainstay in our industry.
Let's say that a person is promoting a Clickbank product - there's thousands of products that a person has to choose from. We're not going to get into the specifics such as the importance of Gravity and such, we're just talking about the merchant's pages. A person has to understand that this is the last page they'll see before they'll order. Even if a person makes an amazing landing page, it all can be lost on the merchant's page. If the landing page isn't something that catches the eye, it's often better to skip out on it entirely. There can, and probably has been, books that can help an affiliate to determine whether the product is worth their time. But, in short, if it makes a person cringe, it may not be worth it.
Even though people stray away from the uglier merchant's pages, there is still money in them. In fact, a lot of people who have found what they thought would be profitable was a complete bust. It's not pretty when it happens, but it happens more than people would think. Even though the merchant's page is the last page they'll see before they order something, a pretty stellar landing page could be enough for the product to convert for those who are especially persuasive.
If a person is going through an actual affiliate network, such as Ads4Dough, they have a leg up on those that do not. From there, they have a bit more options, and the companies they are promoting generally have more cash to spruce up their merchant's page. Also, they'll have the ability to talk to their Account Manager, one that can let them know about the top offers that are others are promoting. In fact, the Account Manager can be a wealth of information for pretty much everything that a person needs -- they are there to make an affiliate some money.
All in all, choosing what to promote is mostly a non-issue. It's more about how a person will promote their product that genuinely makes money.
