How to choose a dealer/ installer for your microFIT project

Choosing your dealer/installer for your microFIT project is very important. There are many qualified organizations out there so when choosing which company to deal with ask questions. What is included in the price?How many installations have you done? Who handles the paperwork? A picture says a thousand words soask to see examples to ensure their quality meets your expectations.

Mostqualified dealers will have in house engineering as most municipalities require stamped engineered drawings in order to obtain permit. Ask to see the proposed array layout and how estimates were calculated. Has snow been calculated into the equation? Quality does not come cheaply with many arrays costing $10/per watt once all the bills are in and it is finally installed. Always ask for the installed price completeand connected to the grid.

Starting a microFIT project can be a costly venture, and you need to be absolutely sure of what your return on investment is going to be. In fact, when choosing between companies, the company that promises you the lowest return is probably the one giving you the straight goods. You need to know what the worst case scenario would be, not the best, because paying your system off is your primary goal. If you're going to be spending $50K on a project, you need to have a business plan, or feasibility study to ensure you're making the right choice. These studies can't be created through a brief visit from a salesman, they take time to create, and their results are the most important part of your decision making process.
