Having a pet bird puts you at number 4 on the list as far as pet ownership goes. A bird as a pet will keep you company, although you have to have it in you to be able to care for a pet bird. A general rule is that the bigger the pet bird you get, the it will destroy. Your pet bird will not destroy your things as long as it is kept busy and you pay attention to him or her.

Out in their natural habitat, parrots are social creatures. They do not like to be alone. What food you will have to feed your bird, personality and behavior are all things to look for when purchasing a bird. For the first time bird owner, a small bird is recommended. The bigger ones take a lot more work. You will want to take into account the life span of the bird you are going to buy. Some of these creatures live for a really long time. You have to be willing to take care of your feathered friend for years and maybe even decades. Think about all these things before taking the plunge into bird ownership. The more you find out about the pet bird before you buy, the better. The decision to get a pet bird could make you change some things in your life.
