City Breaks In Prague

Since the Iron Curtain came down in early Nineties and the "velvet divorce" of the

Czech Republic from Slovakia, the Czechs have become a relaxed and welcoming nation, and the British have taken to Prague, in particular. It has become a destination of choice for stag and hen parties, made popular because of its exciting atmosphere, its cheap beer and the fact that it's only just over two hours away from London's airports by plane.

However, Prague is so much more than a cheap and cheerful place for an alcoholic jaunt. Located in Bohemia, the city is famous for its architecture, and as a cultural centre in Europe. It hosts festivals for film, music, writing and fashion. Despite the decline in value of the pound against the Czech currency, the koruna, a night out in the city can be very affordable, though, of course, the nearer the city centre you are the more expensive it becomes.

Flights to Prague indeed many other destinations in the country - you will be served by Prague's airport, Ruzyne - a modern international airport a few miles to the northwest of the city centre. Holidays to Prague can vary from the inexpensive to the luxurious, with a wide range of hotel accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. There are a huge number of restaurants, and it would be impossible to make a visit to Prague and not visit the Old Town Square, watch the astronomical clock on the hour, and then enjoy a drink on the cobbled stones of the square itself as the horse-drawn carriages go by.

Markets adorn the streets on some days, and the romantic charm of the attractive shops as you make your way through to Wenceslas Square and more bars and restaurants, will leave you wanting to return for more.
