Classic Cars: A Look At Luxury Autos

The market for classic luxury autos has never been more exciting

, more competitive and more elite. The rare and desirable models of yesteryear still fetch astounding prices when the right vehicle comes across the right buyer, and as the years go by, many car designs come into the picture and fade away but there are many classic luxury autos that never seem to lose their edge, they never seem to fade into the history books in the auto market. Here are just a few of the luxury autos that have appeared at recent car shows that had buyers whipping out their check books faster than a Porsche 911 gets up to 60 mph.

One of the most rare luxury autos is the 1950 Ferrari 166/195S Cabriolet. It was expected to fetch a price in the region of one and a half million dollars to a lucky buyer at Bonhams Annual Les Grandes Marques a Monaco sale. This one was created originally as a Berlinetta, and it was rebodied in 1951, but very few examples of them were built. There are several racing victories under its belt, including a Mille Miglia win.

Another alloy bodied car at the show expecting to fetch more than a million dollars is the 1966 Ferrari 275 GTB. Other hot Ferraris on offer include a 1989 Ferrari F40, estimated at about $350,000, a rare 1976 Vetroresina Ferrari 308 GTB at about $90,000, and others. On hand too is a restored left hand drive Jaguar XK120 Roadster at $140,000 and a Lancia Appia Zagato GTE at $85,000.

Steve McQueens sporty 1953 Siata 208S Spyder is one of only 35 that were built. It is being offered by Californias Fantasy Junction for more than one million hot dollars! This Italian roadster was one of the first sports models that McQueen owned. It was also formerly part of the Cars of Steve McQueen exhibition at The Petersen Auto Museum in Los Angeles.

Originally, this king of luxury autos was sold brand new to McQueen by McAfee Engineering. This roadster features an 8 cylinder, 2.3 Litre Fiat engine. Apparently McQueen had removed the nose badge on the front and replaced it with a Ferrari shield, affectionately nicknaming his Spyder as his Little Ferrari. Affixed to the dashboard you would find a very rare set of Heuer racing instruments a stop watch and a watch, to be exact. The engine now has completely been rebuilt and the luxury auto has won honors at several concours delegance.
