Management of behaviour in learning centres like schools is such an important thing to achieve. Good behaviour really does increase students' attention spans and will allow classes to run more smoothly and get the best possible results. Classes that have good behaviour management plans will always do well. Good behaviour allows children to really get on and focus on learning. One of the main reason teachers will leave the profession in the first five years is due to bad behaviour from students. A teacher is never really prepared for what the job will be like and how it will affect them.
Classroom management is about planning and structuring lessons so that classes will be managed efficiently without room for bad and disruptive behaviour. Normally it is the teachers' responsibility to devise a lesson plan and organise classes. This is normally the case because teachers are thought to know their classes and students better than anyone else. Teachers will know what works well with them and what doesn't, this will allow them to come up with plans and structured lessons which will positively influence students. Sometimes however schools may decide to come up with a classroom management system that will be there for every teacher to implement. This can sometimes have negative effects as the plan doesn't take into account the needs of individual students.
Safeguarding is a relatively new term that is all about preventing any harm from occurring to a child, young or vulnerable person. This idea of prevention rather than cure is a great example to set and will allow many children to enjoy their lives when they are young without negative disturbances during this vital period of development.
There are many ways that safeguarding is carried out, it is about teaching people who will have access to children, preventing people from working with children if they are not fit to do so. All people who work with and have the opportunity to work with children will be taught the basics of safeguarding and will be able to prevent harmful situations from arising. Obviously not all situations can be prevented when it comes to child harm and cruelty however safeguarding when carried out effectively will really help prevent many of them.
