Fraternity and sorority houses are a common reality for all colleges; they reflect

the need of students to engage in communication, share interests and perform common activities. Belonging to a fraternity or a sorority gives the sense of belonging, the true shared space, support and protection. These are the reasons for which many students may prefer to live in fraternity and sorority houses. However, these houses differ from college to college, and there are a number of factors to be considered when deciding to reside in one.

How to Make a Well-Weighed Decision about Fraternity and Sorority Houses?

1. The romantic fleur that surrounds living in a fraternity or sorority house may be non-actual for certain colleges, as the housing may be expensive, and conditions in which students live often leave much to be desired. The cost of housing in the neighborhood has to be compared to the cost of living in a fraternity or sorority house first, and in case the private apartment rent wins, one should choose it because of more privacy and less financial stress.

2. There are some fraternity and sorority houses that look really grand; however, not every college has an old mansion to host fraternities and sororities there. Hence, these houses have to be visited first before making a decision about living there.

3. The shared interests and pastime may be both constructive and ruinous for the studies. There are some serious fraternities and sororities where attitude to studies is serious and high grades are rewarded and encouraged. However, some other organizations of that type promote only having fun, so one has to consider the opportunities for schooling that they provide, and only then make a decision about moving there for living, schooling and combining it with fun.
