From the print head the image is made with the help of creating heat on the label. It is also responsive to scratches and bumping.

Thermal Transfer Label

Thermal transfer label is used for labels that will stay for years or months. It is mainly used for barcode labels, product labels, asset labels and location labels. These labels use a label material that is not responsive to heat. Wax is heated from a ribbon from the print head and then transfers it to a label. Due to this the label will not become lighter.

Wax ribbon or resin can be used in case the labels need to be used for indoors. Most commonly used material is paper though polypropylene is also used that makes the label resist humidity. This helps the label from dirt, oil and tearing. Wax and resin ribbons are used for bar coding, bins and warehouse shelving. Polyester thermal are durable as compared to polypropylene labels as they can withstand high temperatures. It consists of strong scratch resistant features. It has a glossy finish and is used on motor engine labels, racks and serial plates.
