Common Water Park Equipments And Safety Rules

This article describes 3 popular rides in a water park and gives some safety tips to follow.

Water parks are amusement parks that involve playing in and around water. Many water rides feature that provide entertainment to adults as well as kids. Water parks were introduced in the late 1940s and early 1950s and have evolved magnanimously since then.

A water park has many types of equipments including water slides, spray grounds, splash pads, lazy rivers, and other recreational provisions like swimming, bathing and bare footing areas. A water park may also have bath tubs and wave pools. Most parks have a separate area for toddlers and their parents so that the little ones are not hurt. Some may also have a small zoo or a childrens gym as extra attractions. Water parks also have provisions for food like ice-cream, cold drinks and snacks.

Water parks can be a great venue for throwing a kids party. Most parks dont allow outside food, but provide food at reasonable rates. They allow birthday cake in their premises (in case you are celebrating your kids birthday).

Now lets look at some of the common rides in a water park:

Lazy river- The lazy river is a water play equipment found in most water parks. They are sometimes also found in resorts and recreational centres. It is a shallow pool that flows slowly, resembling a river (hence the name lazy river). The current of water, being very low, it allows the riders, lying on rafts, to drift slowly along the water. Scenic elements are sometimes added to enhance its beauty, like a small waterfall or fountain along the edge of the river. In some cases, lazy rivers lead to a wave pool, while in other cases they might just go round in a circle. A wave river or torrent river is similar ride. The difference being that they have wave machines to produce waves that push the rider faster than in a regular lazy river.

Splash pad- Splash pad has ground nozzles that spray water upwards. It has no standing water, hence eliminates the risk of drowning. Some splash pads may have movable nozzles with which the users can spray water on each other.

Water slides- Also known as flumes, hydro slides, and water chutes, water slides are one of the most popular rides to be found in a water park. Water slides are of different types, depending on their shape, size and riding method. In case of some slides, the riders can sit directly while in some others he/she has to sit on a tube or raft designed for use in a slide. Water slides can also be rented for a kids party. It can make the party more enjoyable for the kids. They are not very expensive to rent. You can get cheap water slides from many rental companies. However, there are some safety tips that you need to keep in mind:

There should be an adult supervisor to supervise the kids.

One kid should be allowed to ride at a time. The supervisor should allow kids to slide only when the landing area is all clear.

Riders should not try to come down walking the slide as that increases the risk of tumbling and serious accidents.

Riders should sit with their feet stretched out in the front when sliding.

Slides should never be used as bouncers.
