Comparing Windows 7 to Windows XP
Microsoft defines Windows 7 as one that supersedes in task simplification, works the way you want and makes new things possible. This is so true especially when compared to the hitherto popular Windows XP.
Multitasking becomes all the more easier with the improved Taskbar in Windows 7. Chats, free photo sharing, email and IM programs are not as easy with Windows XP as in the Windows 7, made possible by the Windows Live Essentials feature. Browsing becomes faster in Widows 7 than the Windows XP because of the compatibility with Internet Explorer 8 version.
Finding files and programs used the conventional method and was time consuming with Windows XP, but has become instant with Windows 7, with its superior Windows Search feature.
The Jump Lists feature in Windows 7 makes opening programs and files a matter of a click or two, which takes longer time with Windows XP.
View Available Networks in Windows 7 helps connect to any available wireless network with a mere three clicks, an added feature absent in Windows XP.
The Aero Peek function in Windows 7 enables navigation of several open windows more easily that in Windows XP.
Files, photos and music are shared with great ease with Windows 7 on the home network, that was not possible on Windows XP.
Multi-streaming takes on a whole new connotation in Windows 7 with the ability to print in a single printer from any pCin the house network. This was never possible with Windows XP.
Printers, devices and camera can be effectively managed using Device Stage function of Windows 7.
Of course, the Device libraries is an additional feature in Windows 7 that makes management of files, documents and photos an effortless task, not present in Windows XP.
It is true that Windows 7 enables music, video and photo streaming, which was not possible with Windows XP, however it maybe argued that the Windows Media Plyaer and Movie Maker was an easy to use feature with windows XP for enjoying music, and creating home movies. The multi-finger touch possible with Windows 7 is perhaps its most redeeming feature when compared to Windows XP.
However, it is difficult to compare accurately the functionalities of the two programs because older machines would function faster with the Windows Media Player Windows XP while the newer machines would be geared for a quick start-up in Windows 7. That is why perhaps most online polls have showed up the astonishing result that Windows 7 is only but marginally superior or preferred to user-friendly familiar Windows XP.
