Computerized Engraving Equipment Care And Maintenance Tips
It's not like you buy new computerized engraving equipment every week
, so it's best to take care of the equipment you've got. With proper care and maintenance, you should get years of quality use out of your equipment. Like any other machine, engraving equipment needs routine maintenance and care in order to insure long lasting quality.
You know, it's funny... we just signed up for a Facebook account and one of the first posts we saw was from a man that bought his engraving machines over 10 years ago and he's still using them. I think he actually called them "beasts"! Anyway, here are some tips that will help you care for your engraving equipment so that yours can last for years, too:
Keep the guide rail lubricated
While using computerized engraving equipment, there is always a good amount of smoke and dust which can harm the guide rail after enough use. Turn off the engraving machine and cut the power. Thoroughly clean the guide rail and lubricate with oil. Move the slide rod so that the oil lubricates it. Install the screws in the right positions so that the slide rail is even and a straight line can be made.
Clean reflector and focus mirror
Computerized engraving equipment needs regular cleaning, especially the reflector and focus mirror. Clean each of these with a pure alcohol solution on a weekly basis.
Adjust synchronous belts
All belts on computerized engraving equipment need to be going at a continual speed for the engraving to be accurate. Differing speeds results in fold over on engraved materials. Use sound as your standard. The less noise made by the computerized engraving equipment, the smoother the machine is running. Adjust all belts to a continual speed for a smooth engraving.
Keep bearings filled with oil
For the best result from computerized engraving equipment, clean and lubricate all bearings. With a piece of soft cloth, remove dust from all the bearings. Take an injector and insert a dollop of oil, moving the bearing at the same time. Keep bearings well cleaned and lubricated to ensure that your computerized engraving equipment runs like a dream.
Engraving equipment a lasting investment
You've put good money into your engraving equipment. Match that investment with a regular program of maintenance. Keep the machine properly cleaned and oiled. Make sure all fans are working properly. A little care will make your equipment last a long time, providing years of quality use and satisfaction.
