Confidence In God Is The Key
Do you put more trust in what you experience through your senses than you do in God
? It is easy to believe in the things we can see, hear, touch, taste, feel, and smell. For example, some people have more confidence in the chair they are about to sit in than they do in God's promises manifesting in their lives. The Bible, to them, is something intangible--a book of stories that are useless in the "real" world. This lack of confidence in the unseen is exactly what the enemy wants. He is after our confidence in God and His Word. If Satan can get us to let go of the trust we have placed in those promises, he knows we will slowly begin to turn away from God.
God wants us to trust Him, and confidence is the key. Hebrews 10:35 says, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward." There is an empowerment to prosper that is released in the lives of those who stand firm on the Word and in their right-standing with God. On the other hand, those who do not trust in God usually end up lacking the things they desire and what God wants to give them.
When we have not received the things we are praying for, we must keep in mind that it is not God who does not want to bless us; rather, it is our lack of confidence in Him to carry out what He has promised, that causes the problem. God must become the only Source of everything we need or want in life: provision, protection, wisdom, promotion, health, and so on. He should not be our last resort.
How do we develop confidence in the unseen realm? Well, begin by spending time in God's presence through studying, meditating on, and confessing His Word. We can always gauge our confidence levels in God by asking ourselves this question: "When adversity comes, do I stand strong in the Word, or do I immediately become frustrated and scared, then cave in and quit?" If your first response to challenging circumstances is to panic and become fearful, this is an indication that confidence in God must be developed more. Finally, we must decide to get sin out of our lives.
Keep in mind that God doesn't lay ground rules for living because He is mean or harsh. Rather, He does not want us to get caught in sin's trap because it brings feelings of guilt, condemnation, and fear, which will strip us of our confidence in God. Your heart has the ability to condemn you by causing you to stop praying or trusting the Word, the very things that are most important and critical to your success. Build unwavering confidence in God by investing time into your relationship with Him. Get to know the Word intimately so your faith in His promises becomes unshakeable. As you do, you have His promise that when you ask anything according to His will (His Word), He hears you. That knowledge will give you the assurance you need to receive all that you ask of Him.
