Connecting Creativity With Innovation Management

When innovation is brought in conversation there is a lack of consistent terminology

. Some of the most commonplace mistakes that are often made are when people confuse the terms "creativity" and "innovation." At times, innovation consultants are talking about creativity, but they use the word innovation because they believe it is important to stress the potential complexity that innovation management can bring to a business over the term than creativity." This lack of consistent terminology, corporate innovation is looked at as creative minds that are imagining out of the realm ideas in hopes it becomes a new products. Innovation management is a process which will require multiple minds to solve a challenge and an organized idea management system.

The first thing to do is to revisit definition of creativity and innovation management. Creativity (within a business) is combining two or more different ideas or concepts in order to create a new idea. Creativity involves the manipulation of concept and ideas and re-shaping it into a new concept and idea. More than one concept can be involved for creativity. Innovation Management is about changing your world, in the case the world surrounding the business, for the better. In short, creativity is about the ideas. Innovation process management is about the implementation of those creative ideas in order to institute change. For a business in need of corporate innovation, the context of this would typically be through increasing value either in the form of increased revenue or reduced costs or both. But, there are other forms of value in corporate innovation can generate.

Businesses take the form of innovation management challenges and confuse with creative exercises. Creativity involves more conceptual mapping and implementing unconventional global concepts to the task or challenge at hand. Innovation initiatives should utilize a form organizing the creative thought such as using an innovation management software or idea management software. There are many innovation initiatives, such as brainstorming, ideas campaigns and even my anti-conventional thinking which can be geared towards creativity exercises. Innovation process management takes the ideas that are generated from the creative exercises and use them in a form to implement solutions with innovation management software. With the confused definitions, there are times in which there is a complete disconnect between the creativity exercise and the innovation process management for implementing any ideas that arise in an organized manner such as through the collaboration of a enterprise management software. A solution to that disconnect or problem is by training the members of an organization or business to use the enterprise management software an guideline for innovation management. This solution utilizes the ideas software as an innovation lab in which the ideas can streamline and be guided into a specific direction.
