Conservatory Heating Guide

Many conservatories are a nice room to be used during the summer, however as they are not thought through properly the conservatory is often too cold to use during the winter. Just by spending a few extra hours planning the conservatory when you have it built, you can turn the room into a space which you can use any time of the year by spending a little bit of extra cash on heating.

You have a few options for heating your conservatory, however the most popular choices are to either go for underfloor heating or a radiator. When either type of heating is installed you can have this running off the houses main central heating system or if its own system. Conservatory Furniture. As the conservatory will need different heating to the rest of the house you must ensure that there is a thermostat in the conservatory so that you can adjust the temperature for that one room.

Lets now take a look at these two conservatory heating options and decide which one would be better for your needs.

Radiators - These are only really suitable if your conservatory has low walls or a solid wall which the radiators are able to be mounted to. These can even be set into a fake low wall with a radiator cover on the front so as to save taking up valuable space in the room. If you are having the radiators fitted after or are unable to have them fitted inside the wall you can always have some radiator covers fitted over the radiators to hide the radiators and make them a little safer.

Under floor heating - It isnt always an option to have radiators fitted to the walls in your conservatory, or you may not want to have them in there. In this case the best option would be to pick under floor heating with floor grilles over radiators. This system uses a trench which runs around the conservatory with a couple of pipes and heating elements in it. Hot water is then passed through these pipes, which in turn heat the elements and therefore the room. On top of the trench, floor grilles are then placed so that you are able to walk around and they also create a very attractive feature.

Regardless of the type of heating you decide on, these can only be complemented with a good quality set of conservatory blinds as these will help to keep the heat in.
