VGA is described as a graphical interface link that is mainly used on personal computers since the 1980s. Until today, VGA is still used by several users all over the world. Today, SECAM is more popular and widely used in some parts of Africa and Russia. Experts find that the controls are harder compared to the two main standards.

The move from VGA to TV has been drastic, considering that old television sets can only process analog signals. Old TVs also can only support either component video or composite video. New televisions, however, with HD or high definition and digital support can serve both analog and digital inputs. The new TVs have a clear advantage over old models, since new systems have the capacity to boost the analog video signals, thereby giving you detailed and crisp images all the time. The improved video also cannot beat the quality of the original, so even if you enhance or convert old video tapes, do not expect everything to be transformed into pristine condition. Colors and some details can still be improved and managed using new technology.

You should observe your TV first to determine the type of video that it can support. Some examples are HDMI, DVI, VGA, composite video and component video. A number of televisions are powerful enough to double as a computer monitor and will no longer need extra hardware to effectively convert VGTA to TV signals. If your existing television is not powerful enough, you need the right connector to support the input. New TVs are usually backward compatible and can support old component and composite inputs. The composite video standard is more frequently used among old TVs, so you should choose this as far as video connector is concerned.
