Coordinating A High School Reunion
You have been asked to throw together a reunion
. Guess what? High school reunions take some planning and you are going to need to be devoted and ask people to help you out. You will need to plan ahead and do not sign up for it if you do not have the time to do it.
Organization
If you want to plan the best reunion, you are going to have to be organized. If you do not take an organized approach to it, then the night is just not going to go as you had hoped it would. It could either be one of the most exciting events you've been to in a while or it can be a failure, that is up to how you handle this huge responsibility.
Once you have all of your goals in order, you are really going to need call around to the people from your class that still live in the area. There are many that may genuinely be interested in helping out if you ask around. That way you do not have to do everything all by yourself and you can delegate tasks. That makes everything so much easier in the long run. Don't be afraid to contact friends that you haven't spoken to in a while too, because they could really help out.
Once you have your team built, you are going to have to meet in a quiet place that you could spend time brainstorming with. This could be anywhere as long as it is quiet. So, if you want to just host at home or rent some sort of meeting room in a hotelit is up to you. You could save some money just hosting at home. Serve them some drinks and dessert straws and you should be good there.
During the meeting, the number one priority is to gather as much information as you can about those that graduated the same year. Make it a small contest where whoever gets the most people's information can get some sort of gift card for their hard work.
After everything has been collected, you should gather it into one main spreadsheet so that you have it all in one place. You can then begin planning on getting regular invitations or sending electronic invites. I would recommend both, because it is so easy to just throw together an event on Facebook. Mail is so much cooler. Don't worry if you don't get everyone's details, you could always just do some extra searching. There will be a percentage that will not show up, however.
After everything has been put together, you are going to need to pick a date that is in the warmer weather, but not when it is too hot. It is important to avoid family tradition type Holidays, because people are of course going to spend their holidays at home.
Someone trustworthy is going to need to be in control of the funds and you may have to charge people to come to the reunion, because it is going to cost so much. What you do is add up how much you are going to need. You need to rent a space, provide beverages and snacks, and maybe provide some dinner. Consider the costs and that is how much the tickets should be. High school reunions are worth it.
