, filter it and then store in a bag paved the way for the invention of what we know call the vacuum cleaner. This machine, also known as a Hoover in Europe, was first invented in 1868 by Ives W. McGaffey. Since then, the vacuum cleaner has evolved into many forms and has become one of the most popular household appliances in the world.

Aside from the conventional electricity powered vacuums that give floors and carpets a good clean, manufacturer have come out with different types of vacuums to suit almost every cleaning situation. Smaller, handheld and cordless vacuums have been introduced to the market for use on cars, offices and hard to reach areas of your home.

Cordless vacuum cleaners are inexpensive and are offered in a variety of styles. They are lightweight and very easy to use. It does away with having to tire with lugging around the old heavy and bulky apparatus, as well as having to move big furniture aside to clean the hard to reach spaces. Without the limitations of cords, you are allowed added mobility and comfort that electric vacuums cannot provide.

Manufacturers have found yet another way to make life simpler for us since these cordless vacuums run on batteries. These batteries can be charged by simply attaching it to the battery charger that is included with each unit. The charger is plugged into the electric socket and can be left while waiting for it to charge fully. A full charge will allow you up to two hours of use. Because this piece of equipment will only be used for selected areas, it is highly unlikely that you will exhaust its battery. It is so practical that you can actually take it with you, leaving it in your car so that you can use it to scoop up crumbs left by the kids on that long drive.

As with its original larger counterparts, the smaller ones are also supplied with several accessories, brushes and tools to aid in cleaning an assortment of areas and surfaces. Some of these handy vacuums even have attachments that allow the device to be plugged into a cars lighter outlet to either charge its battery or provide power to it while cleaning the inside of your vehicle.

As they say necessity is the mother of invention. The need to reach those furniture filled corners without having to move them aside, to clean the interiors of your automobile, or the crevices of your home or office has given rise to the innovation of a once crude and shabby 1800's tool.
