Correct golf grip – Three Methods
One of the most enjoyable fair-weather sports to take up is golf
, and before you get to the greens you'll need to know how to get started. The first thing you are going to have to master is the correct golf grip. Golf lessons for beginners starts with learning how to grip the club and once they have some expertise in driving they will need some golf chipping tips to help them get to the greens. These new golfers will then need to learn how to put the ball into the hole before moving on to the next green. The following article will provide some useful tips and information for those people who are interested in learning the game of golf.
Choose a grip type.
You can hold the club three different ways, the ten finger hold, the overlap hold or the interlock hold. The first type is referred to as the ten finger grip and can be best described as placing both of your hands on the club, and you will want to stand directly over the ball, slightly bent over, placing one hand above the other You'll know you have it right if all of your fingers are lined up in a row. Another method is called the interlock grip. This grip is much the same way as the ten fingers grip except you will interlock your pinky finger with you index finger on the other hand, and this will provide better control of your swing. The final choice for golfers is the overlap grip and this is demonstrated as placing both of your hands together and locking your pinky fingers.
Hand grip and rotation.
The proper rotation and grip on the club is a very important step for the beginning golfer. For the right handed golfer, the left hand will be on top of the right hand. The knuckles of your hand will help determine if you have the proper rotation on the club. After you have gripped the club with your hands, you should only see the first knuckles of your hands when you look down at them. If any other knuckles can be seen other than first knuckle, you'll have to rotate your hands until they are properly positioned. The proper grip can be measured by imagining you are gripping a tube of toothpaste without the cap on. When you are gripping the club, grip it just tight enough to keep that imaginary toothpaste from coming out of the tube.
Chip short shots.
The only difference between chipping the ball to the green and driving the ball down the fairway is the distance that the ball has to travel. You will hold the club the same way for both. Even so, new golfers will tend to fall short of the peg with their chip shots. As a new golfer you may find yourself chipping short of the peg and you can aim past the peg until you're used to it.
If you want to become a regular golfer then these
golf lessons for beginners should be able to get you started. The only thing they will have to practice on is the
correct golf grip that will enable them to play well. With a whole lot of practice you can use the
golf chipping tips to improve the shorter distances to the greens.
