Crank Up The Furnace:making The Most Of Winter Months

With winter approaching, many are dreading the cold weather and having to suit up every time they go outside

. Crank up that Salt Lake furnace! The winter months can be hard for many people who love being able to move around without the threat of freezing outside. If you are one of the many who dread the colder months and wait every year for the snow to melt, here are a few tips for surviving and maybe even enjoying winter.

First, find a hobby or a sport you can do in the cold weather. If you hate all things snow and frost, take up sewing or an indoor sport like basketball or volleyball. It will help you pass the time if you have something to do to keep you busy. If you haven't found something you like to do in the winter months, then start thinking and come up with something that will make you happy while the snow falls outside. If you work full time and don't have a lot of time to develop a new skill then get involved in a league or group that meets in the evenings like a sports team or a sewing circle. Having a regularly scheduled event each week or month will give you something to look forward to and help you keep your head up when it's cold out.

Next, don't underestimate the value of a good shopping trip. If you hate the cold weather, go out and buy some fun winter clothes. Fashionable scarves and sweaters can be a great way to perk you up when you're feeling drab. Budget a little money and go for a trip to the mall for some new cold weather clothes. You may find boots and hats suit you. At the very least you'll get some new garb to help keep you warmer when it's icy cold outside.

Last, spend time doing things you can only do in the winter. Even if you hate being cold, schedule a day to go sledding or cross country skiing. Spend an evening drinking hot chocolate and watching the snow fall. Make the most of the cold and enjoy the few things that only winter can offer. No matter if you live in St. Luis or Salt Lake, crank up the Salt Lake furnace and make the most of the sub zero temps. Go out for some fun in the snow or stay in and enjoy warm drinks and good scenery.
