Create a System To Develop Systems In Your Online Business
Systems are vital to the growth and success of your business. Most entrepreneurs or solopreneurs create a business, run it until it becomes efficient, and then allow someone else to run it while receiving the profits. If this is what you are looking to accomplish, then you need to create a business system.
A business system contains all the processes, tasks and activities that describe how to execute a certain "thing" in your business, such as your marketing system, your product creation system, your product delivery system etc. On the other hand, a process is a series of steps that describe the "what" of how to do something, but not the how.
When you have good systems that have been successfully implemented in your business you can train others to do some of the tasks and activities that you don't enjoy, whilst you still have peace of mind that things are being done consistently. Although it may be scary or difficult to see someone else have control of your business, it is a needed step to lighten your workload and allow your business to grow.
When creating a system, there are several things you need to consider. The first thing you should consider is the end goal of what you are trying to achieve. Think about the big picture. Once you have figured this out, it is time break down the big picture into small components, the "what", "where"," when", "how" and "why".
All good systems must contain these 5 components because it provides the framework for not only what the system is, but also how it works and how it should be executed, but also when it should be carried out its frequency, and who should, or can do it. For example, it might be that there are only systems that you as the business owner will do, and then other systems that someone else could perform if they were trained .
Its good to create a systems template that you can use for documenting all of your systems. This template then is the baseline for the minimum amount of information that should be captured each time you create a new system.
When creating systems, it is important to keep things simple. Complicated systems can result in a huge mess. One important thing to remember is that any system you create can and will change. As your business grows, you may have to tweak the system you use to make your business more efficient and better meet the needs of your customers.
Although it may be difficult letting go of doing certain things in your business, business systems are an essential tool for entrepreneurs and solopreneurs, and something that you simply cannot grow your business without. A good business system can increase productivity, efficiency, and profit while lightening your workload.
Because of this, you must create your own systems or find and tweak other people's systems to run your business so that you can have more time to focus on higher lever and strategic work like product creation, relationship building and marketing.
