Creating A Full Body Workout Routine

The goals of getting in shape, maintaining an excellent physique and improving the

health of the body require creating a workout routine that actively involves the whole body. Creating a full body workout routine is the first part of getting in shape and getting the whole body involved in the exercise rather than only involving a small section of the body.

Begin With Warm-ups:

Working on improving the whole body should always start with stretching and warming up the muscles. If the muscles are tight and stiff, the risk of injury is much higher. Taking a few minutes to stretch out the muscles and start getting them warmed up for the routine ahead will limit the risk of injuries during the process.

Warming up is primarily about running, jogging or walking at a fast pace until the muscles feel warm and supple. Select the best warm-up exercise based on ability and physical fitness level. Those who have joint problems or feel uncomfortable with running should opt for walking quickly to warm the muscles.

Incorporate Whole Body Exercises:

Creating a full body workout routine requires the addition of exercises that work on the entire body or several muscle groups at the same time. The routine should have at least four to five different exercises that work out several muscles to build up the muscles and bring out the best possible results without spending hours a day.

Understanding a few exercises that work several muscle groups is an important part of adding it to a workout routine. A few exercises that are excellent for the whole body include:

* Squats with weights

* Lunges with weights

* Pushups

* Plank exercise

* Crunches and sit-ups on a Pilates ball

Adding in Cardiovascular Exercises:

While building up the muscles through exercises like squats is particularly necessary to get a full body workout, it is important to remember the heart and add in cardiovascular exercises to the routine. Cardiovascular exercises, which are sometimes called aerobic exercises, get the heart rate up so that the heart is also getting a workout and the body becomes healthier.

Cardiovascular exercises to consider adding to the routine include:

* Walking

* Running in place

* Jumping jacks

* Cycling

Making a Routine:

After determining the exercises to add to a routine, the next step is incorporating the exercises into a whole body routine. That means determining the order of exercises, organizing the number of repetitions and setting up the number of sets.

The best routines will alternate between muscle building exercises, such as squats with weights, and cardiovascular exercises like running. Work out in a circuit that includes all of the chosen exercises in approximately ten minute increments. For example, someone who selects squats, pushups, the plank, jumping jacks, running and cycling would end up with a one-hour routine that effectively works out the core, legs, arms and heart.

Creating a routine that works on the whole body is about working out with whole body exercises. That is the only way to avoid spending hours at the gym while still having amazing results on the whole body.
