Creating Personalized Dog Dresses

Dog dresses can make your cute dogs even cuter

. They come in different designs and some can even come in the form of princess costumes. However, these dresses can cost a lot of money. In fact, some of them may even be worth more than what humans wear. This is why many find it impractical to buy dresses and other dog clothes from pet stores. Fortunately, you can reduce your expenses with these clothes if you personally create or sew your dogs dress. Creating them from scratch is hard task if you have no background or experience with sewing but with these steps and guides, that hard task will become much easier.

Measuring

Just like any other sewing jobs, measuring would always be the first step since this will dictate the size of the dog dresses you are sewing. You will have to measure neck, the girth, the middle rib cage and your dogs back length. Measuring the back length will have to depend on how long you would want the dress to be. You may also want to measure the width of your dogs front legs so as to create the proper holes for them.

Materials

For this project, you will need fabrics, needles, threads, dress pattern and some accessories as well. The type of fabric will depend on what you like but you have to be considerate to your dog as well. Make sure that the fabric you choose will be comfortable for your dog. As for the dress pattern, you have the option to create your own or download one from the net. Creating your own pattern will be difficult if you dont have the artistic skills needed. But even when you download a pattern from the internet, you should still incorporate the measurements of your dogs into it. This should be done carefully since the wrong dress size can cause problems in the end.

Sewing

Once you have chosen the dress pattern already, it is now time for you to sew the dress. You may do this either by hand or by machine. The sewing process should be done carefully since your dogs might easily destroy the dress if it is poorly made. Also make sure to properly follow the pattern you have. You should also decide how to place it on the dog. Most dresses usually have a zipper or Velcro incorporated on the belly part of the dress. You may choose between those two or you can also have your own unique and creative substitutes for them.

Although dog dresses are cute, the process of making them is difficult and time consuming. You will encounter many problems along the way but this is perfectly normal if it is your first time sewing clothes. But once you finish the dress, all the hard work you placed into it will be greatly rewarded. As you create more dresses, your sewing skills will improve as well. You will soon realize that you can even make better dresses than those sold on the market.
