Creative Children Activities To Start Off The New School Year
Summer is over and it is the time of year to start packing lunches and meeting the carpool
. Below are some creative ideas to help your child transition from the freedom of summer to the hectic schedule of school.
Hold a Fashion Show: New school clothes are so much fun for kids to wear. With all of those great new clothes for school, this is a great time to hold a new school fashion show for the family. Set-up an isle down your living room, and have your kids walk down in their new outfits. Make sure to take pictures to make the experience even more authentic.
Cookies: Make some sugar cookies in the shapes of letters. Decorate them and spell out words. Or use cookie cutter shapes of busses, apples, pencils, etc.
Prepare Wish Memos: During dinner have each child write 5 things they would like to accomplish during the next school year. For example; make a new friend, memorize the multiplication table. Collect the wishes, and hang them on a board for the children to view the entire year.
Prepare a Special Dinner: There are all kinds of ideas for foods. A great idea is to make a hearty soup for dinner that includes alphabet noodles. The family can have fun making words about what they like about school during dinner out of the soup. Also a great idea for dessert is to make apple pie.
Make a Schultuete Cone: This is a wonderful German tradition. On the first day of school the child is presented with a Schultuete cone, which translates to "the school cone". They are large cones with the Childs name decorated on them. These cones are filled with candy, and school supplies. This is so much fun for children.
All of these are fun ideas to help the transition from summer to school for children. It also helps children get excited for the coming school year.
