If you do not, the bureau that you send your dispute letter to may only say that your complaint is baseless as it does not comply with the specifications; therefore, the bureau will not make any step to correct or remove the account you are trying to dispute.

There is a different method in treating your recent collection account. These items or accounts are less likely to get removed from your credit report simply by making a dispute with the bureau because they are - well, more recent. However, you should still make an attempt to dispute them with the respective bureau where they appear on the credit report. There's still a chance that the bureau will investigate it.

If it doesn't go the way you expect it, there is another approach available to you and that is to settle with the collection company. Many of these collection companies agree to purchase debts with a little increase in the amount. You should negotiate with them for a price that you can handle. In return, they will delete the account they hold on your credit report themselves.

If you follow these tips and techniques, you'll see a significant improvement on your credit score. This simple credit restoration process is comprehensive and doable and you should be able to do it yourself.
