Credit for the victory and blame for loss

Chicago Bulls are 0-1 to start the season

Chicago Bulls are 0-1 to start the season. Throughout the first three quarters of Chicago's 106-95 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Derrick Rose is become a main reason for the loss. Though the Bulls had a legitimate chance to win the game nonetheless, and couldn't find a way to convert.

Rose did play a terrific game, but went cold after his fourth foul half way through the third. But it's hard to win when the refs are making bad call after bad call. Like the blocking foul called on Bogans when he was clearly set and Durant ran him over, the "goaltending" on Deng on a ball that was still on its way up, and the 1st foul on Rose when Kristic knocked him back fighting for a rebound (which he bumped into a shooting Westbrook and was assessed a foul). The Thunder getting 23 extra attempts at free throws are a hard hill to fight up. Rose had no other choice but to take his shots because no one else wanted to shoot. I can count about 4 times where he found Korver opened but Korver passed on the shot.

Of course, not all the blame can be put on Rose. The Bulls were facing a solid Thunder team that looked very much like the team people expect to contend for the Western Conference title. Rose did not get as much help as he needed from fellow guards Ronnie Brewer and Keith Bogans, who looked every bit like the weakest links they were made out to be.

The game had so many interesting things going on. The game started off like a rocket - highly charged and back and forth. Let's also not forget that it doesn't help when your teammates aren't shooting well. When Deng, Bogans, Korver and Brewer go a combined 8 of 28, I can see rose putting up more shots. I hate the idea of him taking so many shots but many of those misses were towards the latter part of the game and poorly chosen. As Jeff commented earlier, the differential in foul shots was huge. Aside from that I have to say that considering boozer was not in the lineup and the poor shooting in the second half, the bulls were very competitive. Durant was only 9 of 24 and green were only 7 of 17. And it was tight all the way up until the end. The bulls really had an opportunity to steal this one from the thunder but considering they aren't full strength and took a team that is basically the same as last year to the very end on their home court. I think me like that kind of potential, especially from the very first game. Can't wait until boozer gets back to really see what these bulls can do.

When the game is on the line, it's up to Rose to win for his team. It's as simple as that. Bulls want to become serious contenders and end the chatter about needing Carmelo; they have to close out games. Rose wanted the responsibility, and now he have. That mean he gets the credit for the victory, and the blame for loss.
