Because the market today puts too much emphasis on toying and second-guessing the algorithms of the various search engines, you would often come across sites that are not really visitor-friendly but can generate a significant amount of traffic. Although this might seem advantageous to the site owner, at the end of the day, he actually does not get any significant conversion from it.

One of the characteristics of a good site architecture is that there is very minimal use of images and flash animations. These elements, although fun to look at especially if you are not in a hurry, can actually take up too much loading time. You have to remember that you only have eight seconds by which you can capture the visitors attention. If your picture or flash animation and movie clips take more than that to load, then you can expect them to go to another site.

A properly planned architect website usually features rich content without boring the reader. If you are planning on designing your site on your own, then you have to keep in mind that your information should extend to a little more than two screenfuls. Anything more than those can bore the reader and could push him or her to turn to another site.

A good web architecture also means having a navigation system that allows the visitors to get to the information that they need without having to tire themselves clicking a great number of links. Remember, the more links the visitor has to click to get a certain information, the more likely she would lose her interest.

Lastly, good web architecture involves using the right meta tags and ensuring that there are no broken links. More often than not, visitors get turned off by sites that have inaccessible pages that return errors which the visitor does not understand.
