The field of law enforcement sees fairly consistent growth, adding new types of careers often. If you successfully obtain a degree from criminal justice school, there are several opportunities in many diverse areas. Here are just a few examples!

Work for the local police department or even at the state police. Protect the streets, maintain peace and order, shut down drugs and gang crime. You may want to make detective, go out and uncover evidence, interrogate suspects and make high profile arrests. Or you make prefer SWAT, K-9, sheriff or deputy sheriff.

If your goals are higher, take a look at the FBI. They handle all different types of crime that violates federal statutes. Kidnapping, drug trafficking, terrorism, government fraud, bank robbery, organized crime, murder, and much more. You'd be handing national security issues, fraud, surveillance and potentially undercover work.

If science and alanalysis is your thing, there is the well known forensic lab. These are the CSI's made popular by the TV shows. CSI's play a vital role in bringing criminals to justice. Matching finger prints, tracking firearms by shell casings, and recovering DNA samples is all part of the job.

The private sector of law enforcement is also an option. A P.I. Uses many of the same techniques that normal detectives would use. They do interviews, searches, surveillance, and gather evidence. However, most of the business is in insurance frauds, child custody, marital infidelity, missing persons, and protection work.

These are just a few of the rewarding careers once you have your degree from a criminal justice school. And certain degree programs can be completed online. But for most of these careers be ready for additional learning and on the job training.
