The issue of career planning has become the focus of attention in the modern period

of time; parents are highly concerned about their children acquiring prestigious professions with respectable salaries. Successful career planning is now seen as a precondition for life welfare, creation of a stable and happy family, provision of retirement benefits etc. Thus, it is possible to state that the career choice reflects the whole strategic view of the individuals life. A successful choice means luxury and well-being, while an unsuccessful choice is a failure for the whole lifetime. However, nowadays there are many critics of career planning who state that it has to be the individual choice without material calculations, that the job should be loved and interesting for employees etc. Arguments of both sides have to be considered to produce a grounded conclusion on the issue.

Career Planning A Necessity or a Business Field?

First of all, the argument against career planning is the number of career planning, management and development agencies that respond to the eternal need of young and mature people seeking a career decision or a career change. Career planning has evidently become a business field in which people earn really much money. Hence, it becomes possible to state that the interest towards career planning issues has been artificially created for the sake of profit and as a natural response to the needs of individuals.

2. On the other hand, one can see that the career planning stage is present in every persons life, and the further life path depends on whether the decision was successful or not. Some people cannot evaluate their abilities objectively and make wrong choices they either focus on profit and forget about job satisfaction, or ignore their own preferences for the sake of job prestige. Later they regret not having a professional who would have given a piece of advice that could possibly change their life.
