DTEA Senior Secondary School is located in Janakpuri. The school was established on 8th October, 1973. Initially, the school was started in a single room in the residence of Shri S. Padmanabhan (C2B, Janakpuri). Shri S. Padmanabhan was the founder member of Janakpuri Tamil Association in 1974. The land was allotted by the DDA. At DTEA, initially the classes were conducted in wooden structures. After the allotment of the land, the Janakpuri Tamil Association handed over the land to DTEA. The 1st batch of students of class X appeared for the CBSE Board Examination in the year 1977-78. The school became a recognized school in the year 1976.

The foundation stone of the school was laid by his holiness Jagatguru Shankaracharya - Shri Abhinava Viyateertha Swamiji of Shringeri Sharadaa Peeth on Sunday the 15th May, 1977. The foundation of the first block was laid by H.E. Robert. L. Wade-Gery on 1st May, 1985.

Rs. 1,00,000/- was donated by the British High Commission for the construction of the 1st block. The foundation of the 2nd block was laid on 22nd October, 1986 by his holiness Jagatguru Shankaracharya Shri Jayendraa Saraswathi Swamigal of Kanchi Kamakodi Peetam.

DTEA Senior Secondary School was brought under Grant-in Aid from Delhi Administration on 1st may, 1981. The school was upgraded to senior Secondary Status in 1988. The school has 1336 students and 63 faculty members. The school is one of the best schools of Janakpuri. The Alumni of the school occupy prominent posts like that of doctors, civil service officers and chartered accountants.

The school has a very good infrastructure. There is a three-storied building. It has 33 class rooms, 12 rooms in the Ground Floor, 7 class rooms in the first floor and 10 rooms in the second floor. The school has 3 laboratories and 1 library and one computer room.

The school has a separate room for the Principal. Each floor has a separate toilet for boys and girls. There is a multipurpose hall called the Silver Jubilee Hall that has a seating capacity of 350 people. There are separate P.E.T. rooms, staff room for primary section on the ground floor. Secondary and Senior Secondary staff rooms are available on the first floor. In front of the main block, there is a spacious ground that is surrounded by trees.
