Dads And Sons Spend Valuable Time Working

One of the things that many boys remember about growing up is the time that they

spent with their dads working in the yard or on some home improvement project. This is valuable time to the boy and to the father, who could likely do the work a lot quicker without the child in the way. However, fathers just know that they need to spend the time with their boys and they often see this as a way to teach their sons hard work and some practical skills in home repairs and improvements.

A common piece of equipment that may have been seen every Saturday, especially if the father and son were building a garage is that of a sawhorse. This is a simple, yet vital piece of equipment in many of the projects that fathers and sons do together.

Many times, a boy learning how to build, helps by holding the two by four on the sawhorse while his father cuts it. Another way that you might see a father helping a son is when they have the son mowing the lawn each and every Saturday.

The list of chores to be done in the yard in the summer time, are endless. When they are not mowing lawns, boys are often weeding or digging something out of the ground that is no longer living, such as a dead shrub. Another time that some boys might remember from their childhood is when they helped to pour some concrete. That is a big learning experience when a boy learns just how hard it is to lay concrete. However, the skills that can be learned doing this can be invaluable.

Not all boys have fond memories of working in the yard. Some would rather forget that time, but by far and large, most boys grow up to have a love of doing yard work as well. This is a great trait and skill to pass on to future generations that will come along.

The earlier in life that a boy learns to work hard, the more likely they are to be responsible and self sufficient in the future. That is not only an investment of well spent time by a father to his son, but that also is an investment into our society. The more men that were raised like this and able to provide for themselves, the better off society will be.
