To save aggravation, time, and money, a customer should always fill out an inspection report on his or her vehicle at the time it is picked up by the auto transport service. This report should include the current condition of the vehicle, with space to note any damage in the paint, body, or interior. The report should also have space to write the mileage of the vehicle. This reportsigned by the auto transport driver as well as the customerwill be the customers most useful piece of evidence in case damage occurs during the transport process. The customer should keep a copy of the inspection report, and photographs of the vehicle at the time of pickup are a good idea, too.

When the auto transport service delivers the vehicle to its destination, the customer should inspect the vehicle again. He or she should fill out a new inspection report, making not of any damage that might have occurred during transport, using the original report for comparison. The auto transport driver should be informed of the new damage and he should sign the new inspection report as well. At that timeor as soon as possiblethe vehicle owner should contact the auto transport company to discuss how to get the vehicle repaired. Professional companies carry insurance to cover damages to their cargo as well as their own equipmentcustomers should have made sure of this before turning over their vehicle to the auto transport driver. After all, it is in the auto transport companys best interest to handle such situations quickly and completely, and most companies will bend over backward to make their customers happy.
