Dear Mom: Letters for Every Occasion Dying Can be Scary

Dying Can be Scary:

Times of Doubt are Perfectly Human

August 5, 2002

Dear Mom:

Great news! They started building your mansion. It will not be long before you are here with me heaven! Of course you will have to leave dad and my brothers behind, but it will only be a little while until we are all together again!

Funny, isn't it? Here you are missing me every day and wanting to be with me, but now that you know you are going to die, I mean leave earth behind; you automatically have second thoughts about leaving.

What will dad do without me? What will the boys do? What about my three precious daughter-in-laws and my grandchildren?

These are all good questions and there would be real reason for concern if we were not all Christians. Not that I want to make light of the situation. From your perspective leaving earth, the only home you have known for the last eighty-seven years, can be a scary thought even for a Christian.

Yes mom even for a Christian. Jesus said it best to Peter when Peter started sinking into the water, "Oh yea of little faith." Peter was with Christ and even he had second thoughts about his faith.

I share all this with you so you don't beat yourself up when you occasionally question your faith. It is, after all, part of being human. The good news is that our God understands this. That is why He sent His Son to forgive us our sins that come out of our imperfections.

Rest assured that every Christian on earth is in His care and know, as I know, that Jesus takes care of all of us according to our needs.

So prepare yourself for the most wonderful, indescribable experience you can imagine the day you finally enter heaven!

Love Always
