What Matters Most

Dear Mom:

I continue to miss you and look forward to arrival!

The other day I was speaking with the Arch Angel Michael. We were discussing his many battles with the enemy. He told me that the most difficult battles he has fought are the ones where deception is used.

Michael went on to say that Satan and his minion are quick to use their ungodly powers to turn people away from salvation every chance they get. One of their most successful tactics is to intercept people's earthly desires and use them to intoxicate people into thinking that their earthly wants and needs are greater than any heavenly reward.

Some of the most difficult battles of deception that Michael has had to fight involve people's needs. More often than not, Christians come around on their own when they realize that their earthly desires are not so important, but hit them at their "need level" and you have another story.

The promise of love, shelter and food, even for a short time, are powerful weapons. People need these things. This is what makes this kind of battle so difficult.

Fortunately, Jesus freely gives all the things we need and not only in earthly terms. For instance, when Jesus met the Samaritan women at Jacob's well, He offered her, His "living water", rather than earthly water. To any non Christian, the choice between an earthly drink of water in a hot desert and eternal salvation by believing in Jesus is easy; take the drink of earthly water. On the other hand, a true Christian would gladly give their drink of earthly water to someone else and die knowing that Jesus is waiting for them with open arms.

This is another reason why prayers sometimes appear to be unanswered. As the battles rage between God's angels and Satan's army, humans are caught in the middle. Not quite seduced by evil, but not quite secure in their own salvation. It takes a strong-minded individual with godly values to withstand such an attack even with angelic support.

So be on your guard, Mom. Spiritual warfare is going on all over the earth and Satan will take advantage of any situation he can.
