Many people are very wary of bankruptcy and come to the topic with pre conceptions. I hope to be able to dispel some of the notions that you have about bankruptcy.
The first thing people say is that there is a stigma attached to bankruptcy. That may have been the case in the past but not now really. Last year 140,000 people declared themselves bankrupt in the UK.
The next thing that is said is that your credit file is ruined for ever. Not true your credit file records your bankruptcy for 6 years. By the time you consider bankruptcy you will have an affected credit history in any event and so the bankruptcy will have little greater effect.
If bankruptcy is the right solution for you, ie because you have a lot of debt and little or nothing by the way of assets and you want to deal with your debt once and for all then follow these three easy steps.

2) Prepare the information that will need to go on your 28 page statement of affairs. This is the document which the Official Receiver will use to write to your creditors and bank, and decide if you have any surplus income to pay in an income payments order. 3) Leave time free to attend at court. I book and attend at all court hearings for my clients. I explain circumstances to the District Judge and confirm that appropriate advice has been sought and given.
