ABOUT DEF LEPPARD
Def Leppard was formed in Yorkshire, England in the year 1977. Three years later, the group released its debut album, 1980's On Through the Night. Released by the Mercury record label, this record went on to go platinum in both the United States and Canada.
To date, Def Leppard has released nine studio albums, a live album, two EPs, fifty singles and thirty-three music videos. The group has also toured with a number of top artists, including AC/DC, Ted Nugent, Bryan Adams, Journey and Foreigner.
DEF LEPPARD ON THE ROCK OF AGES TOUR
In 2005, Hollywood Boulevard was host to a brand new musical, a musical built around the glam metal hits of the eighties. While the production featured interpretations of songs from groups such as Journey, Twisted Sister, Poison and Styx, it took its name from Def Leppard's 1983 single, "Rock of Ages."
The musical proved highly successful, even spawning a recent theatrical movie starring Tom Cruise. Thus when Def Leppard was preparing to embark on a multi-venue tour with fellow artists Poison and Lita Ford, it seemed a no-brainer to name the expedition "Rock of Ages," allowing fans of the musical to see the real talent behind the songs.
The 2012 Rock of Ages Tour is scheduled to hit a number of locations in both the US and Canada. In the United States, the bands will be appearing at venues in Florida, Ohio, Tennessee, Michigan, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Wisconsin, Illinois, Nebraska, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, Indiana, Montana, Iowa, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. In Canada, stops are scheduled for the cities of Hamilton and Montreal.
BRINGING FANS NOSTALGIA
When a Def Leppard fan pays to see the group live, they arrive with certain expectations. They expect to see Joe Elliot deliver strong vocals, backed by wild guitar riffs and an elaborate stage show. But most of all, fans want to hear the hits.
Fortunately, Def Leppard prides itself on giving fans exactly what they want. On the Rock of Ages Tour, the bulk of the group's set list is culled from 1983's ten times platinum Pyromania album and 1987's twelve times platinum Hysteria album, by far the most popular releases in Def Leppard's discography.
The hits keep rolling out when Def Leppard is on stage. These include crowd pleasers such as "Hysteria," "Love Bites" and "Pour Some Sugar on Me." Naturally, the group closes out its set with "Rock of Ages."
