Is a warranty on labor included?

Inquire about their guarantee policy. When you are hiring an electrician, find out if they are willing to come back if a problem recurs or persists. If a warranty is included find out if it has a reasonable amount of time before expiring. Simply stating a warranty isn't enough. Get it in writing and understand its limitations! A good electrical contractor is happy to stand behind his warranty. If an electrician will not offer a warranty this is a problem in my mind.

What permits do they have?

In the current economic climate, some people may be willing to do work which they are not licensed to complete. A good electrician will not make this offer and they will help you understand that their permit is your insurance should there be a problem.

Are they courteous and polite?

Plus if the electrician enjoys their job, the quality and attention to details will be better. The customers attitude can and will affect the entire job.
