Designing Great Custom Banners For Business
When you hang your Custom Banners out on the street
, you can't just put your company name on a piece of cloth and expect it to bring in the customers. You want style, something that grabs a bypasser's attention and makes them say "You know what? Maybe I could go for a (your company's product or service) right about now!"
Now, if you want people walking by to stop and come on in when they see your sweet banners, you need to keep a few quick tips in mind, and here they are...
Look at Other Banners
As they say, the easiest way to be successful is to look at other successes and copy them. Obviously, you want to use your own style and approach, but you can learn a lot by looking at other people's banners. Look for the most popular restaurant, cafe or shop on the street, and look at the banners or signs they hang out front. The presentation is their face to the world, and you can learn a lot from a quick glance.
Use a Simple Scheme
The best ad campaigns are always built on strong, simple color schemes. When you think of Coke, you think of red with white text. When you think of Pepsi, you think of the blue and red circle. Sprite is green, Barqs Root Beer is Silver, etcetera. Stick to a simple color scheme, preferably primary or secondary colors, as this really helps your banners stand out on the street.
Identity
Put your company's name on it. You can get away with just showing the logo if you're Starbucks, but even if you've been on this block for a couple years, you still need to put some time into building your corporate identity. You want your banners to tell people who you are and what you do in order to make sure that you're advertising to your fullest abilities.
Have Your Artsy Friend Do It
You probably started your own business because your strong point is... Well... Business. If you never really had the knack for visual design, you probably have an artsy friend or family member who can whip you up a good design for a low cost (or heck, a gift certificate at your shop). It's all about bringing in the business, and if you know somebody who has a long history of doing just that for other business owners, do yourself, and them, a favor and give them the job.
